Buy Home Speakers

Our smart speakers offer multi-room audio by the means of app connectivity. By using the required app on your smartphone or tablet, you can connect to multiple speakers at the same time. Doing this allows you to have the same audio from your smart device playing in multiple rooms at the same time, which is great for parties if you have guests in multiple rooms.

HiFi speakers are arguably the most common speakers for home use as they are usually used in a living room or bedroom and are designed to use with a TV setup. These come in a few different forms such as bookshelf, floor-standing and surround speakers, each being different in how they can be utilised.

The portable speakers that we offer have Bluetooth technology, which is practical if you are having a small gathering with your friends because it allows you to connect to the speaker on your own devices separately and easily. They also all operate on battery or mains power, so you can use the speaker indoors whilst it is plugged into power and charging, and then wirelessly on battery power should you not have access to a plug socket.

Boombox speakers are similar to our portable speaker range, but they are all in the traditional boombox style. They all feature Bluetooth connectivity for wireless streaming, but not all of them feature battery power for portability.

Which are the best wireless speakers for home use?

Wireless home audio speakers include many different styles and designs, so the best speaker for your intended use will differ from person to person.

If you are after speakers that offer multi-room audio, our diverse range of smart speakers would be ideal for you. Smart speakers offer multi-room audio by connecting to your home WiFi network, and then with the use of an app on your smart device, you can play audio through any number of speakers at the same time utilising a feature known as 'grouping'.

When multiple speakers are connected to your WiFi network, you have the option to connect to any of them at a given time. For example, if you have one speaker in your kitchen and one in your living room but you only want audio coming through the speaker in the kitchen, you can simply choose that speaker in the app on your smart device.

Similarly, having the option to connect to any speaker at a time means that you can connect to all of them at one time, and this is perfect for house parties where your guests will be in multiple rooms. As an example, some of your guests may be in the kitchen while some will be in the garden - and this is where you would want the same music through multiple speakers which are achieved through the app.

Wired home audio speakers

HiFi speakers, also known as high-fidelity speakers, are a common choice for home audio purposes. For high-quality stereo audio at home for use in your bedroom or lounge, HiFi speakers would be the best option.

By connecting passive HiFi speakers to a suitable AV receiver or stereo amplifier, you can use them with your TV or PC for music and entertainment purposes. For a more in-depth audio experience, HiFi speakers will be the best for home use as they have a great sound reproduction that is effective at reproducing sounds exactly as the original source intended it to be.

We also have active HiFi speakers that can plug straight into mains power without the need for an amplifier. These are effective because the built-in amplifier is paired with the specific speaker components, and this makes for an efficient sound system. For these speakers, you would just need to connect an external audio source into the line input using an appropriate cable.

Portable home speakers

Our portable home speaker range features built-in rechargeable batteries so they can be used in any location without a mains power source. They are particularly useful for garden parties and barbecues in the summer when you want some music.

The majority of the portable speakers that we offer aren't weather resistant, so can only be used in the garden in dry conditions, but this is perfect for summer parties and gatherings. They can all be used whilst plugged into mains power, so if you want to use it inside while it is charging then you can, and then move it into the garden when it is fully charged.

We offer several battery-powered speakers in a boombox style. Any of the speakers we provide that have battery power will have wireless Bluetooth connectivity, including the boombox style speakers that feature rechargeable batteries. The inclusion of Bluetooth means that anyone can connect their smartphone to the speaker simply, which is ideal for gatherings at home.

Cinema speakers for home

Within our home speaker range are cinema or surround sound speakers. When paired with a suitable surround amplifier connected to your TV, you can achieve true surround sound which adds a layer of immersion to your home entertainment needs.

We offer packages that come with 5 speakers - two at the front for the main stereo audio, one central and two rear speakers. When placed around your viewing space in your living room, the audio from your favourite movies and games will enclose you, creating an extra immersive experience.

We also have HiFi subwoofers that can be used effectively with surround sound systems, as they provide a deeper bass response that standard speakers won't be able to achieve. This completes a cinema-esque experience for you at home.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which speaker is best for home?

The best home speaker will depend on what you want to achieve with it. For example, if you are looking for stereo speakers to use with your TV or turntable, then HiFi speakers would be the better choice. On the other hand, if you are looking for speakers that are suitable for large garden parties, you would benefit from a larger portable speaker with bigger drivers and higher power ratings.

If you need any assistance in choosing the right speaker(s), please contact us - we will be happy to guide you through your options.

What to look for when buying speakers for your home?

When looking at home speakers, there are several factors to consider when deciding if they will be suitable for your requirements. Some of these include:

Size - The size of a home speaker is very important, as this will determine whether or not it will fit in your space, as well as if it would be loud enough. Generally speaking, the louder the speaker, the higher its volume level will be.

Connectivity - Some home speakers may only have a line input connection, meaning that you would only be able to connect certain devices using cables. Other speakers may provide Bluetooth connectivity, but no optical input to connect your TV, for example.

Battery/life - If you are looking for a speaker to use wirelessly in your garden or on-the-move, it is important to choose one with a battery-powered design. Furthermore, the battery life of some speakers may not be long enough to cover your event or party, so this is important to consider.

Do bigger speakers have better sound quality?

Generally speaking, if a home speaker is larger in size, it will most likely have better sound quality. The larger size of the speaker driver means that lower frequencies can be reproduced, and it has a bigger cone excursion that gives the driver more room to excel. That being said, smaller speakers can have smart features, such as reflex ports or experly designed enclosures that give the sound quality extra warmth.

Overall, the sound quality of a home speaker will differ between models, so it is important to factor different specifications into your considerations when choosing one.

Can I connect a TV to a Bluetooth speaker?

Most of the time, you cannot connect a TV directly to a Bluetooth speaker, as most TVs do not have built-in Bluetooth transmitters. That being said, some Bluetooth speakers have wired input options, such as RCA or optical, that you can use to connect your television using cables. It is important to consider the input options on each home speaker before making a decision.

Do you lose sound quality with wireless speakers?

Compared to wired connections, wireless home speakers may suffer from a loss in sound quality, but the difference will be barely noticeable for most people. Wired signals will always be of a higher quality, as there is no compression used like in wireless signals. Overall, both wired and wireless speaker connections are good options for different circumstances, and the difference in sound quality is minimal.

How many watts is a good speaker?

The wattage of a speaker is not the only factor to consider when determining its overall quality. For example, one model of home speaker could be rated with a high wattage level, but it may use cheaper parts, therefore resulting in worse sound quality. Another model of speaker could have a lower wattage rating, but uses better parts and has an overall higher build quality, which will result in a better sound with higher volume levels.

Do I need an amplifier for my speakers?

If you have passive home speakers, then you will need an amplifier, as they do not have any built-in amplification in order to work by themselves. On the other hand, if you have active speakers that connect directly to a mains power supply, then an amplifier will not be necessary, as your speakers are already powered.

Can I get wireless speakers for home use?

Yes, home speakers are available in wireless models in the form of WiFi or Bluetooth options. WiFi speakers connect to your home network, where they can then be app-controlled on a smart device and used with additional WiFi features on the same network for stereo pairing or multi-room configurations.

Bluetooth speakers work a bit simpler - they have a built-in receiver that gives you the ability to pair your smartphone, tablet, or laptop, where you can then stream audio wirelessly from any app or website of your choice.

What speakers do I need for house parties?

For house parties, it is recommended to use either a stereo pair of home speakers, or a single large speaker that can handle higher volume levels. The type of speaker you need will ultimately depend on the size of your house, as well as the number of guests you are entertaining. Please contact us if you need a recommendation for your circumstances.

How do you tell if a speaker will be loud enough?

To tell if a home speaker will be loud enough for you, you should consider different characteristics. Some of these include:

Sensitivity: Sensitivity refers to the speaker's ability to convert power into volume. The higher the sensitivity rating, the louder the speaker will be.

Power handling: The power handling capacity of a speaker refers to the amount of power it can handle without being damaged. Generally speaking, the higher the power handling rating, the louder the speaker can be played without distortion.

Size: The size of a home speaker is a good factor to consider when deciding if it will be loud enough for you. If a speaker has a smaller driver, it will not be able to reach higher volume levels as easily as a larger speaker.
