You can use them while they are plugged in and charging, and then once the speaker is fully charged you can unplug it and use it wherever you like. This is a practical feature because there may be occasions when you don't have access to a mains power source, such as a garden, but still want some music being played.

Bluetooth connectivity being an option for every speaker in this range is one of the best features they have to offer due to how simple it is to set up. Bluetooth is becoming more and more common in modern speaker technology, and it's nice to have a choice between wireless and wired streaming as both of these options will be better for different scenarios. All of these speakers also have a wired line input, so you can use either for whatever your preference.

With most portable wireless speakers that we sell, there is a microphone input on the unit so you can plug a wired microphone into it and as a result, use the speaker for karaoke or vocal performances in any location as long as the speaker is charged.

A lot of our portable speakers come with a wired microphone so you have everything included to get it up and running. The majority of speakers in this range will also feature echo control on the mic channel which is ideal for karaoke and vocal performances as it gives your voice a fuller sound.

What should I look for when buying wireless speakers?

A key component when looking for a wireless speaker with battery power is battery life. Most of our rechargeable speakers have a rough battery life of 4-8 hours depending on the speaker that you go for and how you are using it. For example, if you are using a speaker at max volume, the battery life won't be as long as the battery will be using more current resulting in shorter battery life.

Another aspect you should consider is the volume level of the speaker. If you will only be using it for personal use where high volume levels aren't needed then a smaller speaker should suffice, but if you're going to be using it for barbecues and gatherings in your garden where it's going to be quite noisy, a larger and more powerful speaker would be best.

To see if a speaker will be loud enough for your needs, find the max dB that the speaker is capable of in the item description. Look online for a dB chart that gives you real-life sound comparisons that you can relate the volume levels to, and this will help you see if a speaker suits your requirements. How can I utilise portable wireless speakers for home use?

Portable speakers can be used effectively in the garden for gatherings and barbecues as they don't require a mains power source when they're charged. They can also be used when plugged into power so you don't have to worry about having to wait for it to charge to use it again.

Many of our portable speakers feature wireless connectivity by the use of WiFi. When using multiple WiFi speakers, you can connect to all of them simultaneously from one audio device, and you can then achieve multi-room audio from the use of an app which is great for use at home.

You can also connect to our portable speakers wirelessly from your smart device with Bluetooth. This is great if you are using one speaker rather than several, as you can just put the speaker into Bluetooth mode and then it will be ready to pair straight away with your phone for audio playback. For gatherings at home where your guests will be in the garden, this is ideal, as anyone can connect their phone to play their music quickly and easily.

What can I use with a portable speaker?

Our range of portable speakers all feature wireless connectivity options, but they also have a variety of other inputs so you can connect different devices using audio cables.

All of our portable speakers have line inputs in the form of an RCA/Phono connection or a 3.5mm jack connection (also known as AUX). This means that with a suitable audio cable, you can plug your devices into the speaker such as a laptop or phone. If you have a device that you want to connect to the speaker that doesn't have Bluetooth, such as an older iPod or MP3 player, the wired connections make this possible.

Many of our portable wireless speakers also have USB/SD card inputs. With a USB card, you can save MP3 files in your own preferred order so that songs stored on it will play in the order they're saved. Doing this means you can create your own playlists and once the USB stick or SD card is connected, the files will play one after another meaning that you won't need to keep getting up to change songs.

Many of our portable speakers have microphone inputs, and some include a microphone itself. This makes the speaker great for karaoke use at home, and also to be used for announcement purposes if you're having a game night for example.
