All of our DJ laser light projectors are user friendly due to their plug and play design. The auto shows that they all have as presets means that you can just plug them into power, connect the interlock and the key in the corresponding sockets and then they are up and running straight away.

They can also be run on sound-to-light activation. In this mode, the laser will be following a preset pattern that speeds up or slows down depending on the amount of sounds the laser is picking up from its built-in microphone. Any lasers that feature this mode will have sensitivity adjustment, so you can choose how reactive the light is.

A bonus that our DJ lasers have is an included mounting bracket. With this bracket, you are able to fit the laser onto your lighting stand and adjust the angle of the laser so it is not at eye level with anyone in the crowd. The brackets are 360 degrees rotatable around the laser itself, and this means that you can also use the bracket as a stand, in case you don't have a bar or stand to fit the laser onto.

Any laser light operates the most effective when paired with a smoke machine or haze machine. Without any smoke in the room, you will only see the pattern that the laser is producing on the wall. By pairing them with a smoke machine, you will see the actual beam of light through the room, which makes for a much more impressive light show.

DJ Laser Lights For Portable Use

Lasers are an integral element of DJ lighting rigs that offer excellent utility. They are housed in robust metal shells with a rotatable bracket that allows instant mounting to truss and lighting stands for overhead use of the DJ lasers. The brackets can also act as floor stands to be used to project upwards into the ceiling or across to adjacent walls.

Operating in a plug and play format, they can be plugged directly into a mains power socket at any venue without the need for additional equipment or a specific power supply.

Most of our range have Powercon inputs rather than IEC, as it can draw higher current through its heavy-duty cables that lock into the unit for a reliable, secured connection. This secure power input also allows you to daisy chain other lights for a neat and quick setup.

Accessible for anyone who doesn’t have in-depth knowledge of DMX or ILDA configuration, a majority of these DJ laser light projectors have pre-programmed lighting shows that can run without any need for interference from the user. Providing you with instantly usable shows means that you always have a visual performance to complement your music setlists.

Furthermore, there is a built-in microphone that enables the laser to work in time with audio that is picked up. This will enhance your gigs with unique lighting displays that work in parallel with the music. Adjusting the microphone’s sensitivity will either increase the rapidity and responsiveness of the lights for more erratic results or make it only reactive to loud sounds, like heavy bass production.

DJ Laser Light Projector with Gobos

Lasers like the BeamZ Anthe Disco light come with internal gobos that offer a variety of shapes to cast onto surfaces during events. There are usually up to 8 integrated shapes on a built-in wheel for projecting in conjunction with the beams of light. Enhancing the overall effect of the gobo is the ability for the shapes created to twist, turn and shake for an ecstatic lighting production that accompanies the energy of parties, raves or discos.

ILDA is available on some lasers, the BeamZ Professional Pandora 1200 for instance, which allows users with advanced laser modulation knowledge to create their own projectable patterns. Using suitable ILDA-supported software, you can design your own logos, texts and animations to be shown through the light.

The ILDA capabilities also give you complete control over the motor so that you can change its angle for directed output. What makes this better than DMX is that DMX can only really control or adjust the presets that are specifically engineered into the lights already, but ILDA can create its own data and intelligence to send to the light with no limitations to preexisting settings.

Colour Mixing Abilities

Comprising a combination of red, green and blue LED diodes, these lasers can achieve up to 7 different colours by utilising colour mixing options. Doable on DMX functioning lasers, the RGB lights can be blended to produce cyan, yellow and magenta for fun party lights that can change during their preset programmes, sound-activated mode or in an order that you programmed yourself.

In addition to DMX and ILDA, some of the lights have analog modulation. TTL modulation/colour mixing only offers the creation of the 7 colours achievable with RGB lights, whereas analog gives you the option to mix the colours as well as dim their output. With brightness adjustments to the lights, there are hundreds of shades of colour to create. Our lasers with this feature have dials to adjust the amount of coloured light to mix into the final result as well as X and Y-axis inverters.

Buy DJ Lasers

For an even better effect of the lasers, use them with smoke or haze machines. The thick clouds of smoke in the room will make the laser beams visible, instead of only seeing the spots or shapes projected onto a surface. This gives them more presence and impact during their function, and the effect can only be achieved by using smoke with it.

Consisting of versatile features, easy setup ability and portable construction, any of our lasers will suit your performance needs. Whether it be for use when travelling from venue to venue or for long-term/permanent installation, they are durable and perfect to be implemented into your rig.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are DJ laser lights safe?

DJ laser lights, when used correctly, are completely safe. However, it is important to follow safety guidelines, such as never pointing lasers directly at people or using them in a manner that could cause distraction or discomfort. For instance, in settings like clubs or events, position lasers above head height to reduce potential eye exposure.

UK regulations require that laser products meet specific safety standards, ensuring everyone can enjoy the effect without any health risks.

Do I need a smoke machine with a DJ laser?

A smoke machine significantly enhances the visual impact of DJ lasers. The smoke particles make the laser beams visible in the air, creating a more immersive and dramatic effect. This can add depth to your lighting setup and enhance the overall atmosphere of an event.

However, whether to use a smoke machine will depend on the venue, the type of event, and personal preference.

How can you make patterns and shapes with a DJ laser?

Many DJ lasers have the capability of producing eye-catching patterns and effects. For instance, some models include ILDA which allows users to create their own projectable patterns. Often a variety of pre-programmed patterns and animations will also be available for easy selection.

Before purchasing a DJ laser, take a look at the product specification to ensure they have the ability to produce patterns.

Are laser lights brighter than LED lights?

Laser lights and LED lights differ fundamentally in how they produce and emit light. Laser lights emit a very focused beam, which can appear more intense and brighter over longer distances than LED lights. LED lights, on the other hand, disperse light over a wider area, making them excellent for broad illumination.

While lasers excel in creating sharp, vivid beams and patterns, especially in a dark environment, LEDs are better for general lighting due to their wider output. The perceived brightness will depend on the application and the distance from which the light is viewed.

What are the disadvantages of DJ lasers?

DJ lasers, while visually impressive, come with considerations that need to be addressed. Firstly, safety is paramount, and they must be used correctly. The laser effect should be above head height and not directly targeted at people. Secondly, they may not be suitable for all venues, especially smaller or more intimate settings where their intensity could overwhelm.

How do DJ laser lights work?

DJ laser lights work by producing focused beams of light by amplifying light photons. These beams are then projected through various optical components to create patterns, shapes, and effects that enhance the visual experience at events.

Laser lights are favoured for their precision and the vividness of the colours they can produce, making them a popular choice for DJs looking to add a dynamic visual element to their performances. Many laser lights feature an auto mode with preset shows and are DMX controllable for custom operation.

How powerful should a DJ laser be?

The power of a DJ laser light should be chosen based on the size of the venue and the desired visual effect. For smaller venues or private parties, lasers ranging from 500 to 1500mW are suitable, creating vibrant visuals without overwhelming the space. For larger events or clubs, more powerful lasers, ranging from 1,500-5,000mW, can produce broader and more intense effects visible across bigger areas.

How do you control a DJ laser?

DJ laser lights will often include a choice of operation modes. This will include an automatic mode for plug-and-play use, often with pre-set auto shows for easy operation. Many models will also be DMX and IDLA controllable, allowing the effects to be manipulated with an external DMX controller or a PC.

Some lasers also offer sound-activated modes, allowing the laser effect to synchronise with music, perfect for nightclubs and DJs.

Should I use a laser in a DJ setup?

Incorporating a laser into your DJ setup can significantly enhance the visual experience, adding a dynamic layer to your performance. Lasers can create stunning visuals and atmospheric effects that complement the music, captivating your audience.

However, it's essential to consider the venue size and audience safety, and the laser must be set up properly and above head height. If these factors are managed carefully, a laser can be a valuable addition to your setup, enriching the experience of your performance.

What lights do DJs use?

DJs utilise a variety of lights to enhance the ambience and visual appeal of their performances. This includes LED uplighters for vibrant, colour-rich backdrops and wash effects, moving head lights for dynamic, directional beams that sweep across the dance floor, strobe lights for high-energy, pulsating effects, and laser lights for creating intricate patterns and atmospheric visuals.

Mirror balls can also be used for classic, reflective lighting effects. Each type serves a unique purpose, allowing DJs to tailor the lighting to the mood of the music and the event, creating an enjoyable experience for the audience.
