DJ CD players are perfect for modern and more traditional DJs thanks to the multiple playback options included. In a more traditional fashion, you can use both sides of the decks for your CD collection and then use the integrated jog wheels to scratch and adjust the sound. You could also combine different playback options together. For example, one side of the player can have a CD playing while the other side can be connected to your laptop or tablet via Bluetooth to stream music, making you able to mix the two different audio sources together.
Perfect for mobile or bedroom DJs, our CD mixers can connect to an active sound system using the line output connections. Either an RCA or XLR output, use the appropriate cables to connect the mixer to an active speaker or an amplifier connected to passive speakers, and the sound will be amplified for your audience to hear.
We also offer CD DJ decks with powered outputs, which allow the direct connection to a pair of active speakers. These are best suited for bedroom DJs and provide everything you need to start mixing straight away. With built-in effects, EQ control, Cue function, pitch bend and crossfading, our range of CD mixers are compact and versatile, allowing you to create custom mixes instantly.
Do CDs sound better?
Yes, CDs will have a slight advantage over digital media like MP3 files, but the sound quality difference isn't massively noticeable. For audiophiles who want to achieve the best sound possible, CDs will be the way to go. For beginner DJs, any other playback options included on our CD mixers will be just as effective as the CD option, such as Bluetooth or USB.
Other than the audio quality of CDs, a lot of people favour them over digital media due to the sense of ownership they bring. Rather than playing an MP3 file on a device, many people prefer to manually change the music and enjoy the art booklet that each CD includes.
Do CD players need an amplifier?
No, none of our DJ CD players requires an amplifier to operate, they just need a mains power connection and an external audio system to operate. Several of our CD mixers include a headphone connection, so you can listen to and mix your music in silence without the need for any other equipment.
If you are using CD DJ decks in a live setting, it will need a connection to either an active speaker or an amplifier connected to passive speakers. This is simple to do with the correct cables, and it means that your audience will hear exactly what you are playing. You can also utilise the headphone connection while the mixer is connected to a speaker system, as the headphone channel allows you to cue the next track without broadcasting the sound to your audience.
Many of our CD DJ decks only have line outputs, so if you are using passive speakers, you will need an amplifier to power them. Simply connect the appropriate cables from the line output of the CD mixer and then plug into the line input on your amplifier for the sound to be reproduced.
That being said, some of our CD mixers have powered output connections, which means that they send a powered signal suitable to connect directly into a pair of passive speakers. By using this, you can achieve an extremely compact and minimal setup, perfect for mobile DJs who play in multiple venues frequently.
How do I choose a CD player?
The CD player/mixer that you choose will depend on what you would like to achieve from it. For example, if you would like to play audio wirelessly, you will need a CD mixer with Bluetooth connectivity being an option. You will also need to see what effects are available on each mixer so that you know which one would work best for your mixing style.
It is also beneficial to look at the inputs and outputs available on each mixer so you know whether it is compatible with your current setup. For example, if you have passive speakers but no amplifier, you would need to get a mixer with powered outputs for it to work. Similarly, if you would like to connect the CD mixer to a vinyl player, for example, you would need a mixer with a phono connection rather than a standard RCA line connection.
For mobile DJ applications in live venues, you may want a microphone included in your setup. If you don't have a mixing desk or active speakers with a microphone input, you would need to choose a CD mixer with a microphone connection available. This will enable your voice to be amplified along with the music, allowing you to MC or make announcements, great at weddings.
