Interested in music production but not looking to break the bank? We provide cheap Studio Monitors for those who need them and folk that are just starting out and don't necessarily want to fork out hundreds upon hundreds for pro-grade studio monitors right now.

Studio monitors are the key to music production. Any professional or respectable home studio will have one pair of studio monitors at the very least. All studio monitors are sold in pairs as having two speakers is imperative for producers to work with a left and right channel in their music mixes, just like the L and R on your earphones and headphones.

How do I use Studio Monitors?

Once set up correctly, your studio monitors pair together with your digital audio workstation (DAW) and work to give your mixes a more realistic and professional sound. Known as Panning, 'panning' can be quite the art form but to scratch the surface, a good rule of thumb is to imagine you are mixing the song in front of a stage and your client is performing in front of you. Hi-hats and snare drums for example, they tend to be on the drummers left side so naturally you would pan these somewhat to the right side to match the crowds point of view. This technique translates best to a larger live setting and in some cases even better on the album itself.

Are studio monitors worth it?

If you're building your own home studio then it's imperative you have your own set of studio monitors. These are a reference point for the mixdown within your DAW (Digital Audio Workstation - such as Logic Pro, Cubase or Pro Tools). Use of decent headphones is encouraged but your mix should be checked via studio monitors at each opportunity you feel it necessary, mix imperfections that you may not hear via headphones may be able to be caught through your monitor setup.

Do you need two studio monitors?

Definitely, more often than not they will be packaged together as having the correct right and left pan channels running in your mix are one of the fundamentals of modern audio processing and a balanced sound quality overall.

Are studio monitors good for listening to music?

Yes! When used as a point of mixdown reference in a recording studio, the goal is to produce a great sounding song that sounds just as good on any kind of speaker from your mobile phone to your car stereo. There are speakers more specifically tailored to enjoying music but a good set of studio monitors will give you at home the sonic intentions of the studio artist and the end product they worked hard to record.
