Our beginner range has a few great value guitar starter packs available too for all in one fun moments after delivery.

The guitar is the most commonly played instrument in recent history and more people than ever before now own one in their homes. A natural body with strings, pickups and inner electrics can be jacked in with an instrument cable and connected to an amplifier to play at louder volumes. The starter guitars in this category are for first time players looking to experiment with the guitar and begin learning a valuable new life skill.

Buy Beginner Guitars

The beginner guitars featured are built as a starting line for the newcomer to this instrument. New musicians will sometimes spend money on a high-end guitar only to realise two weeks later it isn’t for them. More often than not they either don’t have the time or patience required to study and practise to an effective degree.

This is where our guitar starter packs are handy, most are packaged with an amplifier and a protective soft case to shield the guitar from damage. Also consisting of an instrument cable, a tremolo bar, a clip-on tuner, guitar picks and an attachable strap for upright play. Each of the beginner guitars is suited to home learning or band rehearsals and is not built for professional live performances.

The guitar is very accessible nowadays, with thousands of free tutorial videos online to help you with some basic music theory and how to play the main 7 major chords. Once the happy-sounding major chords are learned, chain them together to play famous songs, the chord structure which can be found online and just practise over and over again until it feels natural. You may be required to play a minor chord at this time so study them too, D minor or Dm for short is a slight variant on a D major chord shape which will sound both emotive and melancholic.

Guitar starter packs

While most people are able to learn the guitar, oftentimes guitarists of all skill levels will enjoy playing an acoustic guitar. An acoustic guitar fundamentally works the exact same way as an electric guitar but the strings resonate within the acoustic soundhole. This makes a regular acoustic louder than an unplugged electric guitar, there are also electro-acoustic guitars which are acoustics that can also be connected to amps.

This is the reason why we have now introduced our acoustic and electro-acoustic kits to the beginner guitars category. These guitars are an ideal jumping-off point for any and all aspiring guitarists and will keep you busy developing your skills until you can upgrade. Learning an instruments takes time and patience, those with a busy schedule should try to squeeze a total of two hours a week in if possible.

If your order comes with a tuner just clip it to the headstock of your guitar, which is the wooden section where your strings are tuned. Once the tuner is clipped on you can begin tightening the tuning pegs from the bottom string upwards, this is the string that is nearest to your chest. Your tuner will go green when a natural pitch for each note is reached, standard guitar tuning is as follows E - A - D - G - B - E.

Starter guitars

These guitars, while unplugged can be practised quietly at any time by not engaging the amplifier, this way there is no power source connected to the instrument meaning any sound will be low volume. Plugging electric instruments into amps is a different thing altogether, as the pickups detect sound they will relay the signal to the speaker of the amplifier. Electro-acoustic guitars work in the same way but you have the luxury of choosing whether you want your sound to be loud enough for a very small crowd or a very large crowd via amplification.

With an entire world of different musical tastes, begin by deciding which kind of music is your favourite to listen to. For example, some people may enjoy the clean funky, syncopated rhythm guitar sound from the Motown era, some may prefer heavy metal which relies on signal distortions. There really is something for everybody out there but by having conversations with others you can better ascertain a direction to follow.

Some may advise you to employ a professional teacher, but the tuition business is progressively moving toward online lessons via zoom etc. It is not quite the same though as the effectiveness of tutoring comes from having somebody in the room with you to critique how the instrument sounds while you play. To this end, it is just as informative to seek some free tutorials on the internet, keep your money for another musical item.

Maintaining your guitar

All guitar strings begin to lose their resonance if the instrument is neglected but it’s also a good idea to give your guitar some maintenance at this time too. Unwind and dispose of the previous strings before changing, using a moist wipe, gently remove any dust build-up from the body of your guitar. Once you have attached the stings to your clean guitar, you should look into intonation to lock those strings in place.

Keeping your guitar in playable condition is imperative for any serious musician, these particular guitars are designed toward learning as mentioned but you should still look after your instrument regardless. Eventually, when your newfound skills warrant an upgrade, keep this habit for maintenance to get the best tonality and longevity from your instrument of choice. Guitarists occasionally tend to leave their instruments outside in a shed of some kind, others will just leave them out in the sun during summer.
