The DM-8 digital messaging unit from Adastra is best suited for commercial venues, such as warehouses, factories, shopping centres and even schools. It is capable of producing background music, staff announcements and alert tones from digital inputs and wired connections.

The standout, unique function of the DM-8 is its scheduled announcement tones. By using external SD card programming on your PC, you can record up to 99 message tracks for playback through the digital messaging unit. Each of these tracks can then be scheduled for playback on specific days and times.

Alternatively, this professional media player has 8 integrated slots for recording messages directly onto the DM-8. By connecting a microphone via the XLR input, you can capture your vocals onto each of the slots for easy access in the future. Whilst recording, the display screen will show the word 'REC' as well as the elapsed seconds and minutes. You can then press the corresponding numbered-button to listen back to the message or play it when needed through connected speakers, which can be connected to the line-out options.

Furthermore, you can remotely trigger the messages recorded on the DM-8 by connecting an external switch. For example, wiring the message 7 and the ground (GRD) terminal to a switch will cause “M007-inch to play when the switch is pressed.

The digital display screen can be reset so that the correct time and date is shown, this will ensure that your scheduled SD card messages play at the correct time.

As well as being able to make announcements, you can also receive audio playback by connecting external devices, such as a laptop or DVD player, to the RCA line-in.

A paging microphone can be connected to the XLR input or a screw jack terminal for live announcements. Live announcements and digital messages will take priority over any audio played from the line-in connection.
