Buy UV Black Lights

Our selection of UV black lights are engineered toward user accessibility, in most cases, you plug the unit in and simply flick a switch. For home use, we found the best way to utilise this lighting is to place a pair of them on either side of the main area. This method will optimise the overall coverage of the UV light, this coupled with other effects such as a smoke machine or other disco lighting will look superb.

To clarify, this lighting is purely for decoration and not for disinfecting and other such uses, fly zappers, for example, require much more power to the system. Often utilised in dimly lit areas, UV black lights and their dark purple light output make bright colours stand out even more. There is such a thing as neon parties that still take place throughout the UK where attendees dress in vibrant colours for the maximum UV effect.

Blacklight bars have a few slight variants such as UV light bars or the new UV cannons to mention a couple. The effects of ultraviolet light have been used in the nightlife industry for more than thirty years, first becoming popular around 90s rave culture. The BeamZ LED blacklights are suited to a modern home or to be used as part of a small scale event.

Uses of LED Blacklights

LEDs as mentioned are the best choice when it comes to domestic use, shining brightly without using much electricity which in turn lets them run without generating much heat. So in essence LEDs are a safer, cheaper and more optimised choice making them an excellent value for money lighting fixture. Our UV cannon selection features some exceptional LED products which are all just as bright, safe and energy-efficient.

We stock a UV sensitive bubble machine fluid that allows bubbles to glow as they float, an excellent visual effect with many different applications. Each UV light will come with a few brackets or maybe a handle of some kind for attached to vertical or horizontal surfaces. These placements are your choice but the supplied brackets will assist you greatly if you want to place them strategically.

Some of our UV range has built-in DMX functionality, this is a term mostly used by professional lighting designers. DMX is the creative link between lighting fixtures and special effects often seen in major stage shows or other pro-grade events. It’s likely you’ve seen a singing show on TV where many moving head lights spin around to meet in the centre of the stage, that’s DMX!

Inner workings of a blacklight bar

Ultraviolet light is near invisible to the majority of human beings and the term itself means beyond violet, the final colour in the light spectrum. All visible light is filtered out within the unit itself, so the purple effect emitted appears to cling to bright colours in the room. Birds and most insects have a very strong vision and can actually perceive UV light when close to it, this is why bug zappers are a common sight in places of hospitality.

Our LED blacklights are synthesised UV light, a technique only found fairly recently in comparison to the first discovery of UV in 1801. You can use this effect with simplicity in many different ways and as mentioned will look great beside a smoke system. Overall the LEDs will always be much brighter than a tube-based system, this synthesis bolsters the wavelength of the light without needing additional power.

Many items we sell can be hung up or otherwise mounted for static use if you don’t intend to transport them around, within a bar for example. Venues will benefit from the LED range as again they shine far brighter than tube systems as mentioned, again you should set them up an equal distance from one another. This ensures the best coverage for the lighting design of the room in focus, you can select either but tube lights are designed more for stage use.

Additional UV Uses

Pet shops, beauty salons, theatre productions and forensic science all use different strengths of ultraviolet light in their specific mediums. For instance, some reptiles thrive around UV light, both tanning and manicure processes use it and scientists use UV to investigate crime scenes. UV also produces vitamin D within humans, which in turn promotes levels of serotonin in the body which has been shown to improve mental well being.

These lights are mostly used during the Halloween season in the UK, in nightclubs and other nightlife hotspots all over the county. More often than not these systems are exceptionally easy to operate, most being as simple as hooking up to a power source and switching on. UV lights are great at parties and you can find some party foods that react and appear differently under UV light, tonic water for example glows neon blue.

Again, LED UV is a highly efficient way to interestingly light-up events such as live music performances and other staged events. As mentioned, systems that have actual bulbs tend to run exceptionally hot while using up a whole lot more electricity. We are pleased to bring a far safer and much more eco-friendly alternative to our list of UV products.
