Offering innovation together with incredible sound, Electronic Drum Kits offer high-quality sound modules, digital cymbals and digital bass drum pedals that are perfect for beginners and professionals alike.

Split into three market sections, you'll find superb entry-level drum kits, professional full-size drum kits, and range-topping mesh head drum kits.

These digital drum sets are all designed to be folded down for easy transport and storage, with custom telescopic frames allowing excellent ergonomic adjustment for the most comfortable drumming experience.

Beginner Electronic Drum Kits

With entry-level range electric drum kits coming as an 8-piece kit, you'll find ‘real feel’ pads and cymbals made from extra-durable silica rubber, alongside features such as dual-zone snare for rim shots, and chokeable cymbals. This will be made complete with a heavy-duty foot pedal, ideal for hi-hat and kick drum, with traditional chain drive to the kick giving it superb weight and response underfoot

Professional Electronic Drum Kits

If you're looking for something more professional, or at the higher end of the scale yet still hugely affordable, there are a wide variety of high performance digital drum kits offering ‘mesh heads’ to the pads, alongside chain-driven kick drum. The use of fabric mesh allows an acoustic drum style frame with key tightening for adjustable tension to the drum surface. This offers the drum kit a type of active response that professional drummers demand, and is normally only found on electronic drum kits costing twice as much. You'll find that these electronic drum kits also include a heavy-duty 4-legged frame that’s extremely solid and suitable for hardworking session drummers in both live and studio situations.

All of our electronic drum kits feature variations of the excellent Commander Module, as well as a powerful MIDI drum machine - with beginner entry-level devices even providing you with 108 percussion voices and 10 preset kits. The professional kits expand on this, with the Command 500 module, for example, giving 358 voices and 29 preset kits, along with 12 user kit spaces, record function and full MIDI input and output for use with production DAW software as a drum sequencer.

Whatever level drummer you are, from beginner or student to session player or touring musician, the you'll find that this range of electronic drum kits has much to offer.

How do Electronic Drum Kits work?

The playing surfaces of electronic drum sets (pads, cymbals foot controls) operate as digital switches, or more accurately they are velocity sensitive triggers. The signal they produce when struck is sent to the kits command module which converts it to the assigned sound.

The velocity-sensitive trigger system allows the pads to recognise the speed and force of a hit, which the module interprets and converts, making the sound harder or softer. This also includes hand muting of cymbals on some models, allowing a truly authentic drumming experience.

The command module then outputs the full signal as audio for headphones or amplifiers, or as a digital signal for USB and MIDI functions.

What are the Pads and Cymbals made of?

On the base models, the pads are soft and durable silica rubber material which was selected through rigorous play testing by professional drummers. Its extremely hard wearing yet is soft to the touch. This material was chosen to give the best mix of playability and stick response, whilst not requiring the maintenance and tuning of a traditional acoustic kit.

The higher spec models utilise a ‘mesh’ head to the snares and tom pads, which is a fully tension adjustable fabric. This gives the player the bounce and taught response of an acoustic drum skin, and greatly improves the overall feel of the kit for those players used to a traditional drum set.

Are Electronic Drum Kits suitable for live work?

Absolutely! Even the base models in the Carlsbro CSD range are perfectly capable of performing in a live environment.

Obviously the higher spec models are better suited to regular live work, as they provide enhanced playing dynamics, a larger pad count, and the folding frames are much heavier duty designs.

Many professional drummers will alternate between acoustic kits and digital kits depending on gig requirements. The sound quality from electronic drum kits is digital stereo, and is easily routed through a mixing desk to the PA system.

Using an electronic drum kit actually gives you far greater control of levels and volume, which makes them ideal for small venues and for studio recording.

Why do Electronic Drum Kits have MIDI connections?

MIDI is a powerful tool in audio creation, and has found a real second wind with its implementation in studio DAW software and modern DJ production equipment.

MIDI allows you to use the kits Drum Machine commander module in two ways, with MIDI output allowing you to use the drum kits pads as triggers for controlling other MIDI software or instruments.

MIDI input gives you the option of utilising the command modules drum sounds directly from computer software, or for external triggering from MIDI keyboards or desktop velocity pad systems.

Do all the Drum Pads need to be powered?

Only the commander module requires a mains power connection. The pads, cymbals and foot pedal controls require a signal connection only, which comes in a pre-wired cable loom for easy connection to the modules serial bus input.

Are Electronic Drum Kits easy to set up?

Considerably easier than a standard acoustic drum kit!

The fully adjustable folding frames offer superb rigidity, and use a simple hex head key system to tighten all the joints once you have them where you want them.

The pads and cymbals are extremely lightweight, and attach quickly and securely to the frame using the same key as the rest of the system, so there are no screws and clamps to lose.

For ultimate convenience, the pads and frame can be loosened and folded down whilst remaining attached, halving the set up time and making the kit easy to store and transport.

Do Electronic Drum Kits sound like ‘real’ drums?

Firstly, they are real drums!

The percussion voices stored in the Commander Modules are the highest quality, and coupled to the velocity sensitive trigger pads, they offer an amazingly full and detailed soundstage. Being a digital source, effects and EQ can be seamlessly mixed in prior to amplification to enhance the ambient acoustics.

The majority of modern pop and dance songs have some, if not all of there drum tracks created digitally in either software or drum sequencers, and the Carlsbro drum modules are perfect for both direct live performance through a PA system or dedicated speaker, or for studio recording work.
